Writing About My Internship at a Food Bank on a Resume
Writing About My Internship at a Food Bank on a ResumeWriting about my internship with a food bank on a resume is one of the most difficult things to do in the world. This type of experience can be very uplifting, but it is also very challenging. It requires some extra effort on your part, and you may have to learn some things that are not taught in college.I remember the first time I sat down to write about my internship. I had been working as a receptionist, and I was basically on call all day. I wasn't making enough money to get a real college education, so I decided to go out and get a great job. However, because I had to work the graveyard shift, I had to take a job washing dishes at the restaurant down the street. At first, this seemed like a wonderful opportunity. I was getting paid much less than the minimum wage for a cook, so it seemed like a good choice. The only problem was that I had a great atmosphere for a waitress. I loved being able to make people happy. And there was nothing wrong with washing dishes. People loved it.However, it soon became clear that this job wasn't going to last very long. I was very tired, and the pay was very low. Then I met my boss at the restaurant, and he told me that I was going to be moving to another job next week.'Where are you going to go?' was his exact words. He said that if I wanted to be a professional server in the restaurant industry, I would have to move to Florida. But, he also gave me this piece of advice: 'If you go to Florida, you might never come back.'I wrote about my internship with a food bank on a resume about this guy's comment. When I started applying for jobs, my interviewer really liked the story. However, I still wasn't satisfied with it. I could have used more detail, but I think I went overboard with how I portrayed the story.I finally decided to write a new version of the resume that included the story. I am really proud of this write-up, and it helped me land my dream job as a server at the b est restaurant in town.
